Remove Reloading Screen

by dima_dencep

Remove Reloading Screen moves resource pack loading into the background, so players can keep playing while the progress bar runs.

What it does

Remove Reloading Screen moves the resource pack loading step out of the blocking reload screen and into the background. While packs load, the player can keep moving around, opening menus or doing other things, instead of waiting on a static screen. The progress bar still shows how far the load has got.

Only the client runs this mod, so the server does not need it. It works on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 29 release versions, with builds covering 1.16.5 – 26.3, including snapshot builds. The source code and issue tracker are public, and the code is licensed under the Open Software License 3.0. Cloth Config API is required, and Forge Config API Port, Mod Menu and Roughly Enough Config Screens (RECS) are optional.

Key features

  1. Background resource loading

Resource packs finish loading while the player can still move and act in the game.

  2. Progress bar kept

The loading bar stays visible so the player can see how far the reload has progressed.

  3. Cloth Config settings

Options are edited through Cloth Config API, and Mod Menu or RECS can open that screen when installed.

  4. Wide version coverage

Builds exist for every loader across 29 release versions, with the range running 1.16.5 – 26.3.

Questions

Does Remove Reloading Screen need Cloth Config API?

Yes. Cloth Config API is a required dependency, so it must be installed alongside the mod on every loader.

Will the progress bar still show while packs load?

Yes. The loading bar stays visible, and the author notes that a resource pack may set its color.

Does the mod need to be installed on the server?

No. Only the player's client runs this mod, so a server without it works normally.
