Rocks Done Right

by Pill0wLava

Rocks Done Right reworks how stone and rock types generate underground, so geology in a new world follows more realistic patterns.

FabricClient and serverMIT License1.20.4 – 1.21.1

What it does

The mod adds a handful of new stone types that spawn under most biomes, and it changes how existing ones appear. Rocks that form through metamorphism now generate in deeper layers, following the same pressure and heat process that deepslate follows in vanilla, and more stone types become available nearer the bottom of the world. Some choices are deliberate simplifications made for gameplay, and the author states that the geology is an amateur interpretation that may change in later updates.

Several blocks are added alongside the stone types, including Red Sandstone, Limestone, Phosphorite, Chert and Apatite. Most new blocks come with stair and slab variants that can be crafted or made with a stonecutter. Citrine and Prasiolite blocks, along with their budding forms, spawn geodes beneath y=0. Installation needs Fabric, and the mod runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric only, with builds for 1.20.4 – 1.21.1 and the latest file for 1.21.1.

Key features

  1. Geology overhaul

Stone and rock generation is reworked to be more physically plausible, with stone types placed where their formation would make sense.

  2. New stone types

Sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks, along with skarns, schists and leucogranites, are added to the world.

  3. Geode changes

Chert replaces Tuff around geodes, and the Citrine and Prasiolite blocks with their budding forms spawn geodes under y=0.

  4. Stair and slab variants

Almost every new block has stair and slab variants that can be crafted or cut with a stonecutter.
