What it does
Retro Items replaces the 3D item rendering with flat sprites that match the look of early Minecraft releases. An option also lets item models be generated as flat images, which the author describes as a faster way to draw items. The mod requires Cloth Config, and it is published for Fabric only, for 1.16.5 – 1.18.1. Only the client needs it, so servers run without it. The code is under the MIT License and is open source.
