redmon

by ac101m

Redmon is a Fabric utility that draws in-game debug overlays for redstone builds, showing the state of selected blocks while the player works.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.18.2 – 1.21.8

What it does

Players mark a reference block, create a profile with a name, and then add signals made up of the blocks they want to watch. A profile maps the world relative to the player's position, so the same design can be applied again wherever it is rebuilt. Missing components or a wrong location show up as error markers in the overlay.

Signals cover repeaters, comparators, torches, redstone dust with its signal strength, and redstone lamps, each shown as on or off. A profile can hold several overlay pages that are cycled through with hotkeys. A small set of hotkeys covers common operations, and they can be configured in the game settings.

Redmon runs on Fabric and is client-side only, so servers and other players do not need it. The code is open source under the MIT License, with a source code repository and an issue tracker. Builds exist for 1.18.2, 1.21.4 and 1.21.8, and the latest file is 1.1.1+1.21.8 for 1.21.8, published 2026-04-26.

Key features

  1. Redstone signal overlays

Repeaters, comparators, torches, dust and lamps are each drawn with their on or off state.

  2. Profiles anchored to a reference

A profile stores signals relative to a marked position, so designs can be reused in other parts of the world.

  3. Multi-page overlays

Additional pages can be added to a profile and cycled through with hotkeys.

  4. Adding signals by looking

A signal is added by looking at a block and running the signal command, which records the chosen blocks.

  5. Overlay and page recall

The overlay can be shown or hidden, and the previous profile page can be recalled.

Use cases

Debugging computational circuits

Redstone builds meant for computation can be watched block by block while they run.

Reusing a finished design

A saved profile lets a build be checked again after it is moved or copied to another location.

Who it’s for: Redstone builders working on large or computational circuits who want to watch many blocks at once in-game.

Questions

Does Redmon need to be installed on a server?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Which loader does Redmon use?

Redmon is published for Fabric only. Its files cover 1.18.2, 1.21.4 and 1.21.8.

How are overlay profiles kept accurate after a build moves?

A profile is mapped relative to the marked reference block, so it applies in the new location as long as the reference is set again.
