Rediculous Ore Generation

by Darthmendorian

Rediculous Ore Generation, a Forge mod by Darthmendorian, enlarges the ore veins that generate in the world, with veins of 25 or 28 blocks.

ForgeClient and serverMIT License1.19.4 – 1.20.1

What it does

Ore veins generate at a larger size than vanilla, so each vein holds more blocks. Players can choose a vein size of 25 or 28 blocks. Players who want a more natural ore distribution are pointed toward the original Better Ore Generation mod, which the author credits as the basis for this work.

Because the change affects world generation, the server and every player need the mod, and it is released under the MIT License without being open source. The latest file, 1.7.2, targets 1.20.1 and was released on 2023-11-18.

The 28-block version is greedier and leaves fewer visible stone blocks, but it lowers game tick performance, which can slow the game in general, including mob and animal AI. The 25-block version is smaller and has a smaller effect on tick performance. Players should expect blocks to show an error texture temporarily when the vein size is increased.

Key features

  1. Larger ore veins

Each ore vein holds 25 or 28 blocks instead of the vanilla size, changing how ore appears in stone.

  2. Two vein sizes

The 25-block setting has a smaller effect on tick performance, while the 28-block setting leaves fewer visible stone blocks.

  3. Obsidian and bedrock handling

Veins can include obsidian and bedrock blocks, which affects the layout of the generated ore.

  4. Built on Better Ore Generation

The mod copies the logic of KingpvzYT's Better Ore Generation and changes only the vein size.
