QoL Crafts

by Zensiert

QoL Crafts changes several vanilla recipes so that common items cost less material and craft in fewer steps, letting players skip repetitive crafting.

What it does

Most of the changes come from a datapack that replaces plank recipes with log recipes, so a log yields more than one craft and the process takes fewer steps. Other recipes are added for fence gates, pressure plates, and hoppers, where a hopper can be made from chests instead of logs. The author describes the goal as making crafting a little less tedious, and gives an example of two logs producing sixteen sticks, which is useful for fletchers.

The server must run the mod, while players may add it to the client but do not need to. It is published for Fabric, Forge, and Quilt, and is also available as a data pack. Files cover seven release versions, with the latest file being 1.21+mod for 1.21, released 2024-07-18. The mod is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Plank recipes from logs

Log-based recipes replace the usual plank recipes, so each log yields more planks per craft.

  2. Fence gate recipes

Added recipes let players craft fence gates with less material and fewer steps.

  3. Pressure plate recipes

Pressure plates gain shorter crafting paths, reducing the number of materials gathered.

  4. Hopper from chests

A hopper can be made from two chests instead of the vanilla log-based recipe.

  5. Sticks from logs

Two logs produce sixteen sticks, which speeds up fletcher and arrow crafting.
