ProgressiveInventory

by Neuromuser

ProgressiveInventory opens extra inventory slots as players complete achievements, starting from the default set of five.

NeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1

What it does

Players begin with a standard inventory and gain 54 locked slots that open as achievements are completed. The rate comes from the vanilla achievement count: the total of 126 is divided by 54 and rounded down, so each opening is tied to a fixed number of completed advancements. The mod is a remake of the yyzsbackpack mod, reworked for NeoForge 1.21.1.

A server owner can set keepItemsAfterDeath to SAVE, so items stay with the player after death even when the keepInventory gamerule is disabled. Sorting and slot pinning are handled by the player. EMI is an optional dependency for recipe and item lookup. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Files are published for NeoForge only, for 1.21.1, with 1.0.3.1 as the latest build from 2026-07-16, under the MIT License as open source.

Key features

  1. Achievement-based slot access

Fifty-four additional slots remain locked until the player completes achievements, starting from the five default ones.

  2. Keep items after death

With keepItemsAfterDeath set to SAVE, items drop with the player after death even when keepInventory is off.

  3. Sort with the Tab key

Pressing Tab sorts the slots using the default key binding.

  4. Pin slots in place

Alt and left click pin a slot so its contents stay in position when other slots are rearranged.

Use cases

Long survival runs

Players who keep a single world for a long time can grow their storage gradually instead of starting with the full inventory.

Servers with death rules

Server owners can keep items after death without enabling keepInventory for the whole world.

Who it’s for: Players and server owners on NeoForge 1.21.1 who want inventory space tied to progress through the achievement system.

Questions
