by MineGuilds

With Pickles to Skellys, the sea pickles and skeleton spawners and iron chestplates on a Donut SMP server can be disguised as other items on the client screen.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21 – 1.21.11

What it does

Pickles to Skellys is a client-side Fabric mod that changes how certain items look on the player's own screen. Sea pickles are shown as skeleton spawners, and iron chestplates are retextured to match the conventions used on Donut SMP. Placed blocks render as spawners, the inventory icon shows a 3D spawner cage, and a swirling skeleton appears inside. Place and break sounds use the metal sounds of real spawners, and tooltips follow the format used on the server.

Because it runs only on the client, the server does not need it and players join without installing anything on the server side. The mod is published for Fabric alone, with 12 game versions 1.21 – 1.21.11 and 3.0.0 for 1.21.11 as the latest file. The code is under the MIT License, and the project is not open source. A resource pack is needed for the assets the mod was built with, and interacting with a spawn egg sets the mob type at the bottom of the display.

Key features

  1. Spawner disguise

Sea pickles and iron chestplates are drawn as skeleton spawners and spawner cages on the client.

  2. Matching tooltips

Item tooltips follow the text format used by the Donut SMP server, with the spawner purple and skeleton yellow colors.

  3. Matching sounds

Placing and breaking the disguised blocks plays the metal sounds of real spawners.

  4. Spawn egg mob type

Interacting with a spawn egg sets the mob type shown at the bottom of the disguised display.
