Perspective Nametag keeps the player's own nametag visible when the camera is switched to second or third person view.

What it does

The mod draws the nametag over the player model in second and third person perspective, where vanilla normally hides it. Files cover 80 release versions, 1.7.2 – 26.3, for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Quilt, Legacy Fabric and Ornithe, and snapshot builds are published as well. The mod is open source under the MIT License.

Only the client needs it, so servers run without it and players join without installing anything. A server running its own nametag code may clash with the rendering here, and developers can control when nametags render through the perspectivenametag-core API.

Does Perspective Nametag need to be installed on the server?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Why might the nametag render incorrectly on some servers?

A server running its own nametag code may clash with the rendering here, so a conflict can appear on that server.
