Nautilus Studio - Packs Editor IDE

by MehVahdJukaar

Nautilus Studio is a client-side editor for building datapacks and resource packs in-game, opening a generated form for each file type instead of hand-written JSON.

FabricNeoForgeClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.1 – 26.2

What it does

The editor opens alongside a running game. A player picks a data file, fills in a generated form, saves it, and triggers a reload to see the change in the running game.

Modded content is handled too. Anything a mod registers with a codec appears in the editor by default, and most mods work without extra setup. Edits are written to pack files on disk and reloaded on the client, so no server is needed. Nautilus Studio is distributed for Fabric and NeoForge, with files covering 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.1.2 and 26.2 under the MIT License, not open source.

Key features

  1. Generated data forms

Forms are built from the game's own definitions for worldgen, loot, recipes, advancements and dimensions.

  2. Modded content support

Codecs registered by other mods show up in the editor, with a validated raw-JSON editor as the fallback.

  3. Live reload

Changes are saved to the pack on disk and reloaded on the client so the result shows in the running world.

  4. CodecUI widgets

Color pickers, sliders, dropdowns and sum-type builders replace plain text fields where a mod opts in through SchemaCodec.

Questions

Does Nautilus Studio need to be installed on a server?

No. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing.

Which loaders does Nautilus Studio support?

Fabric and NeoForge. Files for 1.21.1 are dated 2026-10-07 on both loaders.

Do mods that register custom codecs need changes to appear in the editor?

Not necessarily. Codecs they register are shown by default, while mods that bundle CodecUI can use SchemaCodec for richer widgets.

What the author says

Nautilus Studio is an in-game data and resource pack workbench. Instead of hand-writing JSON and guessing at the right fields, it opens a full editor alongside the game: pick a file, fill in a generated form, hit reload, and the change appears in the running world. The forms are built automatically from the game's…
