Origins Cap

by WanderingCat27

Origins Cap lets a server owner limit how many players can choose each origin, layer by layer, using a set of commands.

FabricClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.18.2 – 1.20.2

What it does

The mod sets a global cap on how many players may pick a given origin, and it can also cap per layer or per origin. The default cap is 3 and can be changed with commands. Once an origin reaches its limit, other players must pick a different one. A blacklist can exclude particular players or layers from the cap, and a server can allow anyone to choose an origin in a layer. Commands can clear all cap data, reset one layer, or reset a single origin, which forces affected players to rechoose.

The mod is an addon for Origins and needs both the client and the server to have it installed, so the environment is client and server. Files are published for Fabric only, for 1.18.2 – 1.20.2, with 2.2 for 1.20.2 as the latest file. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the issue tracker and source code are public.

Key features

  1. Global origin cap

Limits how many players may choose each origin, with a default of 3 that servers can change.

  2. Per-layer and per-origin limits

Caps can be set for a whole layer or for one origin inside a layer, and the maximum applies globally.

  3. Blacklists

Origins and layers can be blacklisted from the cap, and specific players can be made to ignore it.

  4. Cap reset commands

Commands clear all cap data or reset a single layer or origin, prompting players to pick again.

Use cases

Limiting a strong origin on a server

A server owner can keep one origin from being chosen by everyone by setting a cap on it.

Rebalancing a running world

After changing caps, a reset command can make players rechoose origins in a chosen layer.

Who it’s for: Server owners running Origins who want to control how many players pick each origin. It is mainly a tool for multiplayer servers rather than single-player worlds.
