Ores Core

by __mathieu

Ores Core is a library for unifying ore, ingot and plate materials across mods, with generated resources and in-game configuration for each material.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverCreative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.026.1 – 26.1.2

What it does

The library replaces duplicate materials from different mods with one shared set of tags and items, so a single tin ingot can serve every recipe that asks for one. Textures, models and loot tables are generated at runtime, and only the materials a modpack actually uses are created, which keeps the footprint small. Generated ores take on the look of their host stone, whether vanilla, modded or granite and basalt, and each one can emit light, produce particles or be affected by gravity.

Ores Core runs on client and server and is published for Fabric and NeoForge, with files for 26.1 – 26.1.2 under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license, which is not open source. Ores Mods is an optional companion that handles the material unification, while the core provides the generation, tags and configuration screens. Snapshot builds are published alongside the release versions.

Key features

  1. Material unification

Identical resources such as ingots and plates from different mods are merged under one set of tags and items.

  2. Dynamic asset generation

Textures, models and loot tables are produced at runtime for the materials in use, instead of being shipped as static files.

  3. Configurable materials

Mining level, hardness, resistance and visual properties can be overridden for each material through an in-game configuration screen.

  4. Custom ore generation

Ore shapes such as plates, horizontal and vertical veins and blobs can be placed with distributions including gaussian and trapezoid curves.

  5. Host block matching

Generated ores are added to vanilla and modded stone, with textures that match the host block's physical look.

Questions

Does Ores Core need Ores Mods to work?

No. Ores Mods is listed as an optional dependency. It handles the material unification, while Ores Core covers generation, tags and configuration on its own.

Does Ores Core have to be installed on both sides?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Which loaders does Ores Core support?

Files are published for Fabric and NeoForge, with the latest file 26.1.101 for 26.1.2 released on 2026-03-25 for both.

Can the configuration change ore hardness after generation?

The configuration overrides mining level, hardness, resistance and visual properties in real time through the in-game screen.
