OldAnimations
OldAnimations restores the visuals and combat feel of an earlier Minecraft release inside the 1.8.9 client, covering animations, rendering and GUI details.
What it does
Changes to sword blocking, sneaking, item and block rendering, old texture and model styles, armor tint and enchantment glint all aim to recreate the earlier look and feel. Combat behavior, the player list and the debug overlay are adjusted as well, so the game reads closer to the experience players remember. The mod states it aims to follow 1.8 behavior and does not endorse cheats or hacks, and it is set up so that players can avoid affected servers.
The settings screen offers more than 100 configuration options, so each player can keep the parts they want and disable the rest. Because the mod is built on earlier work from the Animatium Legacy and Sol Client lineage, its scope reaches past surface-level changes into many niche details. It works with the rest of the AxolotlClient features. The mod is limited to the 1.8.9 client, and the Ornithe loader is the only one it is published for.
Only the client needs it, so servers run without it. Files are published for Ornithe, with 1.2.0 for 1.8.9 as the latest build from 2026-08-12. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later.

Tuning visuals per player
Individual options switch single features on or off, so the look can be adjusted without losing the rest.
