Old School Jail

by FugLong

Old School Jail gives Fabric and Quilt server owners a classic jail system, where players are confined to a jail area for a set time and sent back if they escape.

FabricQuiltServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.2 – 26.1.2

What it does

While jailed, a player may not break or place blocks and may not press buttons or pull levers, and every command is blocked except the one that shows time left. Jail locations can be set and deleted, and each sentence takes a time limit and a reason, entered in seconds, minutes or hours, up to a configurable maximum length. If a jailed player leaves the area, the mod teleports them back automatically once they pass 50 blocks.

Permissions are handled through the Fabric Permissions API, so LuckPerms and other permission plugins that implement it can control who may jail players. Without a permissions plugin, the mod falls back to operator level 2 for its admin commands. Settings live in a TOML file with detailed comments. The mod runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything. It is open source under the MIT License and has files for 1.21.2 – 26.1.2, with 1.1.0 for 26.1.2 as the latest build.

Key features

  1. Timed jail sentences

Sentences take a time limit and a reason, entered in seconds, minutes or hours, with a configurable maximum length.

  2. Restricted jailed players

Restrictions on a jailed player cover block breaking, block placement, block interaction and commands, with checking the remaining time as the only allowed command.

  3. Automatic return

A player who escapes the jail area by more than 50 blocks is teleported back automatically.

  4. Multiple jail locations

Several jail locations can be set, and any that are no longer needed can be deleted.
