NoContext

by RadArthur

NoContext is a Fabric mod that changes how copper and a set of vanilla items behave, adding copper that oxidizes over time and new recipes for it.

FabricClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21 – 1.21.1

What it does

Copper ingots in NoContext oxidize over time, passing through the same stages as vanilla copper blocks. A waxable copper ingot can be treated to stop that change. Oxidized copper blocks are crafted from the new ingots, and the vanilla recipe for these blocks is altered, so crafting results differ from an unmodified game.

Several items change behavior in ways the author describes as intentional, and the mod states that some items may be removed or act differently as work continues. The stated aim is to extend the life of single-player worlds and make the process more engaging. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Files exist for Minecraft 1.21 and 1.21.1 on Fabric, with 1.5.0-BETA for 1.21.1 as the latest file, and the code is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Oxidizing copper ingots

Copper ingots change color and stage over time, following the same oxidation path as copper blocks.

  2. Waxable copper ingots

Copper ingots can be waxed, which halts their oxidation at the current stage.

  3. Oxidized copper block recipes

Oxidized copper blocks are crafted from the new ingots rather than from the vanilla materials.

  4. Altered vanilla recipes

Some vanilla crafting recipes are changed, and certain items behave differently from their vanilla versions.

Use cases

Long single-player survival

Players who play one world over many sessions can use the oxidation mechanics as a slow-moving element of their base building.

Who it’s for: Single-player players who want changed recipes and item behavior, and server owners who want a shared copper progression on a Fabric server.
