Nature Horizons

by mrthomas20121

Nature Horizons adds new tree species to the overworld, placed in several existing biomes, along with the wood and leaves they yield.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1

What it does

Nature Horizons adds five tree species to the overworld: aspen, black walnut, blackwood, juniper, pine and redwood. Each one generates in particular biomes, such as aspen and black walnut in aspen forests and old growth aspen forests, blackwood in savanna biomes, juniper in badlands biomes, and redwood in old growth redwood taiga. Pine replaces the vanilla spruce tree in taiga biomes, and the mod adds three biomes in total.

Black walnut leaves drop hard walnuts, and juniper leaves drop juniper berries. Hard walnuts are food that has to be cracked against a hard block before it can be eaten, and they belong to a tag of their own. The mod requires Biolith and Mantle, which must be installed alongside it. Nature Horizons is open source under the MIT License, is published for Forge and NeoForge, and covers only 1.20.1.

Use cases

Exploring new terrain

Players walking through aspen forests, badlands or savannas find tree types that vanilla terrain does not have.

Who it’s for: Players who want more tree variety in new or existing overworld terrain, and server owners who want the new trees generated for every player on a shared world.

Questions

Does Nature Horizons need Biolith and Mantle?

Yes. Biolith and Mantle are required dependencies, and both must be installed with Nature Horizons on Forge or NeoForge.

Does the server need Nature Horizons?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Which loader should be chosen for Nature Horizons?

Nature Horizons is published for Forge and NeoForge only, both for 1.20.1, so a Fabric setup cannot run it.
