Mushroom Quest
by Ryukusu
Players forage for 137 mushrooms in Mushroom Quest, a Forge and NeoForge food mod that also adds creatures, a helmet and an enchantment.
What it does
Foraging blocks spread across the world drop the mushrooms. Each of the 137 fungi is common, rare or mythical, and every one is edible, with medicinal or harmful effects when eaten. Some serve in crafting recipes, as fuel, or as potion ingredients. Oak stumps appear in biomes with oak trees, birch trunks in birch biomes, field trunks and shrumps in plains and forests, acacia stumps near acacia trees, and jungle trunks in tropical jungles.
The mod also includes Funglings, small fungal creatures found in the Mushroom Island biome, except for the nether forms. Dead bushes tame the common forms, while roots from the nether tame the nether ones. Tamed Funglings are purely cosmetic. A Mycopedia book is planned to list each mushroom's edibility, location, rarity and usage, though that feature is still a work in progress.
Mushroom Quest is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. It runs on client and server and is published for Forge and NeoForge across five game versions, 1.18.2 – 1.21.1. The latest Forge file is 4.3.2 for 1.20.1 and the latest NeoForge file is 4.3.2 for 1.21.1, both dated 2026-06-19. The author states that older versions will not receive backports.
