Mosslize
by Itamio
Mosslize, a Forge world generation mod by Itamio, turns stone, cobblestone and stone bricks mossy over time when they sit near water.
What it does
Blocks placed near water gradually change into mossy variants as time passes in the world. The mod adds mossy cobblestone, mossy stone bricks and their matching walls, stairs and slabs, so the mossy versions can be used in builds without any extra crafting.
The mossy variants are kept separate from the vanilla blocks, so existing builds and recipes keep working as before. Mosslize runs on the server alone, so players join without installing it. Files are published for Forge only, in two game versions, 1.12.2 and 1.20.1, with 1.0.0 for 1.20.1 as the latest file. The code is not open source, and the mod is released under All rights reserved.
Key features
Gradual moss growth
Stone, cobblestone and stone bricks placed near water slowly turn mossy as time passes in the world.
Mossy cobblestone and stone bricks
Mossy cobblestone and mossy stone bricks are added as blocks that can be placed and mined like their vanilla counterparts.
Matching walls, stairs and slabs
Each mossy block has its own wall, stair and slab variant, so mossy surfaces can be built in the same shapes as plain ones.
Vanilla-friendly mossy variants
The mossy variants are separate blocks, leaving the original vanilla cobblestone and stone brick blocks unchanged.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Overgrown ruins and old buildings
Builders can place the mossy blocks to give stone structures an aged, overgrown look in survival or creative worlds.
Natural stone by water
Stone placed along rivers and lakes becomes mossy over time, so the change follows the layout of the terrain.
Who it’s for: Server owners and builders who want stone structures near water to show age through mossy blocks. Only the server needs the mod, so players can join without installing it.
