Morrowless
by Tiganu
Night in Morrowless brings creatures that roam far from home, and the mod turns Survival into a slower, more uneasy exploration of a world that no longer behaves as expected.
What it does
Morrowless is a horror-adventure mod for NeoForge that expands Survival without replacing it. Players still build, dig and visit villages, but after dark the world stops following the rules they remember. New hostile creatures appear in unfamiliar places with their own ways of hunting, and strange structures surface far from home, some holding records that hint at things never meant to be found.
The mod is built around tension, exploration and atmosphere rather than stronger versions of existing mobs. Its creatures each have their own appearance, behavior, attacks, animations and sounds. Bosses are staged fights with distinct phases, visual effects and arenas, and a persistent Journal keeps track of everything the player has uncovered. Systems blend into vanilla villages, loot and progression, so the additions sit alongside familiar content.
Morrowless runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. Files are published for NeoForge 1.21.1 only, with 1.2.0 as the latest file, and the mod is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
Key features
Original hostile creatures
Each creature has its own look, behavior, attacks, animations and sound design, and several press the player under pressure.
Major boss encounters
Bosses come with their own mechanics, phases, visual effects and arenas, and they grant rewards tied to the fight.
Recovered documents and lore
Story is told through documents, journals and environmental clues found while exploring, not through a single quest line.
Persistent Journal
The Journal stores what the player has uncovered so every record and clue can be revisited later.
Strange structures
Abandoned underground sites, settlements and landmarks are scattered across the world, some dangerous and some useful.
Dark ambient audio
Sound and ambient audio at night, in caves, forests and isolated places make those areas feel less safe.

How it compares
Unessential Aspects uses the same loader, version and environment as Morrowless, but its license is also All rights reserved and it is not open source. The Echo Horror targets 1.21.8 instead, so it is not available for the 1.21.1 version that Morrowless supports.
