More fuel items
More fuel items lets furnaces burn many everyday items that vanilla Minecraft does not treat as fuel, so players can smelt with items they already hold.
What it does
Many items that cannot power a furnace in vanilla gain fuel values, so a furnace can burn them for smelting. Several of the added fuels burn for a long time, and a few are described as high-efficiency, which suits players who want to stop feeding a furnace every few minutes. The mod is aimed at players who otherwise waste inventory space on items with no use.
The mod is a lightweight addition to vanilla Minecraft and does not add a new progression path. Its fuel values are chosen so that smelting stays a matter of picking a fuel from the inventory. Client and server both need the mod, so the server and every player must install the same build.
Builds are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Files exist for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 as well as 1.21.8, with the latest file for each loader dated 2026-04-14. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. Public issues are tracked through the author's issue tracker.
Key features
Extra fuel items
Common items gain fuel values, so furnaces can burn them alongside coal and charcoal.
Long-burning fuels
Some of the added fuels keep a furnace running for a long time before they need replacing.
Efficient fuels
Certain items are set as high-efficiency fuels, giving more smelting time per item.
Items that were dead weight
Surplus items such as sugar cane and paper can now be used as fuel instead of sitting unused.

Use cases
Long smelting sessions
Players running large furnace setups can use the added fuels to reduce how often they refill them.
Clearing inventory clutter
Stacks of items with no other use can be burned instead of stored.
Who it’s for: Players who keep furnaces running for long periods, and server owners who want fuel options beyond coal and charcoal. Both sides need the mod installed.
How it compares
Auto Smelt is a server-required mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, covering 1.19 – 1.21.8, and it is not open source. Fast Sand Smelting works on the client or the server alone, runs on Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, and is also not open source. More fuel items instead changes which items a furnace accepts, and it requires both the client and the server.
