More Axolotl

by DomiIRL

With More Axolotl installed, players can choose from many new axolotl types, each with its own look and bucket texture.

FabricClient and serverCustom license1.17 – 1.20.1

What it does

The mod adds many new axolotl variants, based on realistic axolotl types. Each variant has a custom bucket texture, and specific variants come from specific breeding pairs. Breeding is the only way to obtain several of them, so players plan their pairings to reach the variation they want.

Two dependencies are required: Fabric API and More Axolotl Variants API. The mod runs on Fabric only, with files for 1.17 – 1.20.1 across 10 release versions. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. The license is custom and the project is not open source, though its source code and issue tracker are public. The latest Fabric file is 2.0.1 for 1.20.1, released on 2023-06-19.

Key features

  1. Many new axolotl types

Several dozen realistic axolotl variants are added to the world, each one distinct in color and pattern.

  2. Bucket textures per variant

Every variant has its own bucket texture, so the type is visible in the inventory before release.

  3. Breeding for specific variants

Specific breeding pairs produce specific variations, which lets players work toward a chosen type.

  4. Big Dripleaf armor

A Big Dripleaf can be placed on an axolotl as extra armor, and bonemeal repairs it.

  5. Open mouths when fed

Axolotls open their mouths when fed, a visual change that marks the feeding action.

  6. Axolotl Catalog

The Axolotl Catalog is a book that describes each type, and a fisherman trade provides it.
