Moon Spire

by yinfires

Moon Spire turns Minecraft fights into deck-building card battles, with tower runs that players climb through a series of rooms and encounters.

What it does

Players enter a tower lobby through a portal built from yellow concrete frames and ignited with flint and steel, then plan a route across a tower map of battle rooms and campfire rooms. Tower health and a run-specific deck carry from room to room, so each run is a separate progression.

Combat is turn-based: cards, energy, statuses and enemy intents work together, so every turn asks for decisions about resources, timing and target priority. Challenged creatures fight from battle decks, and other players can join in synchronized multiplayer battles. Card Forge converts equipment and Minecraft items into playable cards for the deck cycle.

The mod includes tooling for people who build packs or run servers. After enabling developer mode, pressing F8 opens an in-game editor for card faces, monster data and battle UI layout, and the data is stored in a moonspire folder under the version root directory. Moon Spire requires NeoForge and is published for 1.21.1 only; the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it. JEI is also used for item lookup. The code is under the Apache License 2.0 and open source.

Key features

  1. Deck-building combat

Turn-based battles where a deck of cards, energy and statuses decides each move against enemy intents.

  2. Route-based tower runs

Each run is a map of battle rooms and campfire rooms, with tower health and a run-specific deck tracked throughout.

  3. Multiplayer battles

Players fight alongside each other in synchronized battles, each with a battle deck of their own.

  4. Items as cards

Card Forge turns equipment and Minecraft items into playable cards that join the deck cycle.

  5. In-game editing

Developer mode and the F8 editor let modpack authors and administrators change card faces and monster data.
