Monchlets adds a set of small fantasy creatures to Forge 1.20.1, with the Monchi hybrids at the center of the mod.

What it does

Monchi are hadrosaur-salamander hybrids that spawn naturally in savannas and badlands. Their patterns and colors depend strongly on what they eat, so no two animals look the same. Alongside Monchi, the mod brings several companions in the speculative-evolution style, among them the Pufferwyrm and the Tusked Skink.

Tusked Skinks hunt Monchi at night and defend their territory, and a player who wants a companion can tame a baby skinling by feeding it Monchi eggs. Puffdragon larvae are obtained by breeding puffdragons with sugarberries.

Monchlets is published for Forge only, for Minecraft 1.20.1. Installation covers the server and each player's game. The latest Forge file is 2.0.3 for 1.20.1, released 2026-06-05. The code is All rights reserved and the mod is not open source.

Does Monchlets have to be installed on the server?

Yes. The server and every player need the mod installed.

How do players get a tamed Tusked Skink companion?

A baby skinling is tamed by feeding it Monchi eggs. Tusked Skinks hunt Monchi at night, so the eggs come from Monchi the player can catch or find.

Why are some older Monchlets pets missing?

Earlier releases were remade from scratch, which corrupted the world's existing pets, so pets from those releases disappear.
