Mod Sets
by settingdust
Mod Sets lets a player or server owner turn groups of mods on and off from an in-game screen, without touching the mods folder by hand.
What it does
Each mod set is a named group, defined by a subdirectory name or a list of mod IDs, and switching a set takes effect after a restart. Sets can be toggled one at a time, or chosen from a list when two mods conflict, such as a renderer and a shader loader that cannot run together. The mod also offers a config screen and lets a modpack developer write custom loading rules, so a pack can expose more options to its users.
The mod is aimed at modpack authors who want players to pick features, server owners who run optional content, and players who want to control their mods without managing files. Mod Sets requires Fabric Language Kotlin, Kinecraft, Preloading Tricks and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL), and it bundles Preloading Tricks inside the jar. Mod Menu is optional. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, covering 1.19.2 – 1.21.11 in 21 release versions, and the code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Named mod sets
Groups of mods are defined by subdirectory name or mod ID, so each set can be enabled or disabled as a unit.
Restart-based switching
Changes to which sets are active are applied after the game restarts, so the loader reads the new mod list.
Set selection list
Mutually exclusive sets can be placed in a list and one chosen at a time, which covers conflicts and difficulty presets.
Config screen
A settings screen built on YetAnotherConfigLib lets users change the mod's options from inside the game.
Custom loading rules
Modpack developers can write their own rules for which mods load, offering players a defined set of choices.

How it compares
Rules is server-side only, open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and published for Fabric and Quilt across 1.18 – 1.20.1, so it is a different kind of tool. Proper Rules List for Servers is server required with client optional, covers 1.16 – 1.21.11 on all four loaders, and is not open source under All rights reserved. Mod Loading Screen works on either side, and neither needs it, is open source under the MIT License, and is built for Fabric, Quilt and Java Agent.
