Mobs Break Block
by Aiux
Mobs Break Block lets mobs destroy blocks in the world, and it can also make a Giant break large areas at once.
What it does
Mobs that the mod covers can break blocks while they move toward a target, so walls, doors and other terrain may be cleared during a fight or a chase. The amount of blocks a mob destroys in one go depends on the size of its hitbox, which means larger mobs open wider gaps. The Giant is a special case and can break mass blocks around it.
Server owners control the behavior through several settings: a maximum hardness for the blocks mobs can break, the distance at which mobs detect blocks in front of them, and a multiplier applied to the player destroy time. A blacklist lists blocks that mobs cannot break, and a chance decides whether a broken block drops its item. The mod is published for Forge on 1.20.1 only, as a single build, 1.0.0, released 2026-01-17.
Key features
Block breaking by mobs
Mobs can destroy blocks in their path, so terrain changes during encounters rather than staying fixed.
Giant mass breaking
The Giant can clear many blocks at once, making it the strongest block breaker among the mobs the mod covers.
Hardness and detection limits
A maximum block hardness and a front-detection distance set which blocks mobs react to and how far ahead they look.
Blacklist and drop chance
A blacklist keeps chosen blocks intact, and a drop chance controls how often broken blocks leave their items behind.

Use cases
Survival worlds with mob pressure
Players who build bases can see mobs break through walls, so defenses need to be thicker than the default terrain.
Server tuning
Server owners can adjust the hardness limit, detection distance and player destroy time multiplier to match their rules.
Who it’s for: Players who want mobs to change the terrain during play, and server owners who want to set the limits on how far that goes.
How it compares
Global mob health multiplier is open source under the MIT License, is for Forge on 1.20.1 and is server-side only, so it changes mob stats without touching blocks. Giant Texture Path is client-side only, uses the Apache License 2.0 and is not open source, covering Forge builds for 1.18.2 – 1.20.1, so it only alters how the Giant looks. Mobs Break Block is client and server and covers block breaking itself.
