Mob Heads
by Jodek
Mob Heads lets every mob in the game drop its own head, including baby mobs and the variants of chickens, cows, pigs, sheep and tropical fish.
What it does
Players who want a head collection can use the mod to add drops from most mobs, with separate heads for each variant and age. The mod counts more than 500 unique heads, and the author notes that tropical fish alone account for 3072 variants. Drops can come from a player kill or from a charged creeper, and the choice is set in the datapack.
Each head plays a custom note block sound, and an advancement collection tracks which heads a player has gathered. A chat message can announce each drop. Drop rates and messages are changed by editing the mcfunction files inside the datapack, followed by a /reload. Separate listings cover the drop chances for the older builds.
Mob Heads is a server mod, so the server must run it and players may add it for the text translations. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and it is also available as a data pack. The 5555ff-lib library is required on every loader. Builds cover 1.20.1 – 26.3, and the mod is released under the MIT License and is open source.
