Mining Cool Down Fix [Forge]

by paypur

Mining Cool Down Fix removes the minimum delay Minecraft places between breaking one block and starting the next, on Forge and NeoForge.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.18.2 – 1.20.6

What it does

By default the client waits five ticks between breaking a block and starting the next break. The mod sets that delay to zero, so a player can break several blocks much faster than in vanilla, where the wait applies after each block.

The vanilla delay exists to stop players from mining too many blocks by accident when their mining speed is high. To keep that protection, the mod adds an enchantment that limits mining speed to one plus the enchantment level in ticks, so high speed stays available only on purpose.

Installation needs both sides, since the environment is client and server: the server and every player need the mod. Builds are published for Forge and NeoForge across nine release versions, 1.18.2 – 1.20.6, under the MIT License, and the source code is public.

Key features

  1. Zero break delay

Removes the five-tick wait between breaking one block and starting the next, so chained mining is faster.

  2. Limiting enchantment

A new enchantment caps mining speed at one plus its level in ticks, keeping the vanilla safeguard against accidental over-mining.

  3. Vanilla behavior kept

Single-block mining still takes the same time as before, so only consecutive breaks change.

  4. Open source code

The source code is public under the MIT License, so server owners can read what the delay change does.

Use cases

Fast chained mining

Players who break large areas block by block can continue without the vanilla pause between blocks.

Server-wide speed change

Server owners who want faster mining for all players install the mod on the server and on every client.

Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want consecutive block breaks without the default delay, and who are comfortable with the mining speed limit the enchantment provides.

How it compares

Full comparison

No Mining Delay is a Forge-only mod for 1.18.2 that also removes the delay, under the MIT License, and is open source. One Click One Block (1C1B) is Fabric, Forge and NeoForge and covers 1.20 – 1.21.8, but it is client-side only and under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, so it changes breaking behavior without a server install.

What the author says

By default, the Minecraft client has a hard-coded delay of (5 ticks) between break a block and starting to break another, unless your total mining speed would allow you insta-mine it, as per the following wiki article: [ This mod simply sets that delay to 0, allowing you to break multiple blocks much faster than…
