MC Big Legacy

by alphamode

MC Big Legacy changes the world size of b1.7.3 and b1.8 Minecraft by storing coordinates with Java's BigInteger class instead of 32-bit integers.

What it does

Coordinates in MC Big Legacy are kept as BigInteger values rather than 32-bit integers, which lets a world extend far beyond the usual limits of the early Java Edition builds. Teleporting follows the same pattern as the modern teleport command, and the mod includes flight and noclip toggles for moving around very large distances. Its commands are registered through Brigadier, and a help view lists them.

A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. It is published for Fabric, Babric and Ornithe, and the only game versions with files are b1.7.3 and b1.8. The latest release requires a second-generation Ornithe instance run from the command line, because that build's installer interface does not support installing it. The mod also requires Java 25, and the author says it is not supported on servers yet.

Key features

  1. BigInteger coordinates

Positions use Java's BigInteger class, so the playable area is no longer capped by 32-bit integer coordinates.

  2. Modern-style teleport

The teleport command behaves similarly to the modern Minecraft version, moving the player to chosen coordinates.

  3. Flight and noclip

Commands enable flying and noclip movement, which help players cross the enlarged world.

  4. Brigadier commands and help

Commands are registered through Brigadier, and a help view lists what is available.

  5. Stripelands option

A stripelands setting can be enabled at startup by leaving the stripelands box unchecked in the launcher options.

No per-version build data
Modrinth lists game versions for this project (b1.7.3 – b1.8), but the source data has no build per game version and loader, so the compatibility grid is not shown.

Use cases

Exploring very large worlds

Players who want to travel well beyond the normal boundaries of an early Java world can use the teleport, flight and noclip commands to do so.

Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want to experiment with very large Beta-era worlds. Because the mod is experimental, its author warns that entities may render incorrectly, flashing colors and jittery gameplay can occur, and some simple mods may behave unpredictably alongside it.
