Makriva
by msya
Makriva lets players animate their character model with models built in Blockbench, a 3D modelling tool, and load them into the game.
What it does
Makriva customizes the animated player model. Models are made in Blockbench, and a plugin lets the modelling tool load the mod's format directly. Animations can use math expressions and conditions, so a pose can respond to what the player is doing. Custom bounding boxes can be set for different poses, which governs how the model sits in the world.
Skins can be loaded from an HD skin URL. Models hosted by the user must be uploaded first. Once a model file is copied into the makriva folder inside the .minecraft directory, the mod detects file changes and refreshes the model automatically, so edits show up without restarting the game. The mod works alongside MorePlayerModels, which adds poses such as sitting and crawling, and it integrates with skin handling from that mod.
Makriva is published for Forge only, with a single game version: 1.12.2. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. The code is open source under the MIT License, and public links exist for the source code, the issue tracker and the wiki. The first file was published on 2022-08-21 and the latest, 1.2.7, on 2022-09-27.
Key features
Blockbench model import
A plugin lets Blockbench load models for the mod, so models can be created in the modelling tool and used in game.
Conditional animations
Animations accept math expressions and conditions, which control when each part of a pose plays.
HD skins from URLs
Skins can be loaded from a web address, including high-definition textures.
Custom bounding boxes
Each pose can have its own bounding box, so the player's hitbox matches the animated shape.
Automatic refresh
Changes to a model file are picked up automatically, so edits appear in game without a restart.

Use cases
Who itβs for: Players who model their own characters and want to see changes immediately, and server owners who allow custom player models on a Forge 1.12.2 server.
How it compares
AlexInd's Server Skins is client-side only and open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, with files for 1.7.10. SkinChanger covers Fabric, Forge and NeoForge 1.19 β 1.21.3 under the MIT License, and runs on client and server, so every player and the server both need it. Makriva stays limited to Forge 1.12.2 and needs both sides installed.
