macOS Chat Fixes

by pe3ep

macOS Chat Fixes makes Minecraft's text fields respond to the native macOS keyboard shortcuts that Mac users expect.

FabricClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source26.1 – 26.3

What it does

Left and Right arrows jump to the start or end of a line, and Option with an arrow jumps by word, bindings that vanilla Minecraft does not provide on macOS. The changes only touch text inputs and leave Windows and Linux behavior unchanged. Client-side only, so servers do not need it and players join without installing anything. Published for Fabric on 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, with 1.0.1 for 26.3 as the latest file, released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. The source code is open.

Key features

  1. Line navigation shortcuts

Command-style arrow bindings move the text cursor to the start or end of the current line in any text field.

  2. Word jumps on Mac keys

Option with the left or right arrow moves the cursor word by word, a binding vanilla Minecraft lacks on macOS.

  3. Platform-limited changes

The fixes apply only on macOS, so Windows and Linux keyboard handling stays exactly as it was.
