Lost Sky Islands
by morriswmz
Lost Sky Islands is a datapack-packaged mod that adds clusters of sky islands with ruins from a lost civilization to Minecraft worlds.
What it does
Sky islands generate as Minecraft structures that vary in size, and some of the islands hold ruins with valuable treasures. Players who grow tired of the ground can start a sky base on one of them. The islands are balanced against vanilla progression, and their block palettes were chosen to fit vanilla worlds, with wool blocks used only in building parts where they make sense for the general terrain texturing. Because the datapack only adds new structures, it should not break the vanilla experience.
Single-player worlds add the datapack during world creation, while servers place the datapack folder within the world's datapacks folder. The mod requires Fabric API when run on Fabric. Both ends of the range, 1.21.10 and 26.2, are covered by the datapack, and its structures are sized close to vanilla, which makes the islands read as small beside terrain from mods such as Tectonic.
Lost Sky Islands is server required, and clients may run it without installing it. It is available for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 17 release versions, 1.21 – 26.3, under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. The latest file, 1.0.2 for 1.21.8, was published on 2026-09-27.
Key features
Sky island clusters
Clusters of floating islands generate as structures, giving players new terrain to explore in the overworld.
Lost civilization ruins
Some islands contain ruins from a lost civilization, and some of these hold valuable treasures.
Vanilla-balanced progression
The islands and loot are tuned so they fit alongside vanilla progression rather than skipping it.
Fitted block palettes
Block choices match vanilla worlds, so the islands blend with ordinary terrain instead of standing out.
