Lost Mazes

by PastaDude

Lost Mazes is a world generation mod that adds maze structures with their own loot to several biomes, for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.8

What it does

The mod places maze structures in badlands, swamps, the End, midlands, sparse jungles, cherry groves and ice spikes biomes, which are the wasteland-type areas it targets. Each biome gets its own set of maze variants, and each maze has its own loot table, so the contents of a chest depend on where the maze was found. The jungle has a single maze instead of three variants.

The structures are built without jigsaw blocks, so they can be placed directly into the world during generation. Players who explore these biomes will find the mazes while travelling, without needing any command or setup. Files are published for 1.20.1, 1.21.1 and 1.21.8, and Fabric, Forge and NeoForge each have a build for the loader they target.

Only the player's game needs it, and servers run without it. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. The latest Fabric build is 1.0.0 for 1.21.8, the latest Forge build is 1.0.0 for 1.20.1, and the latest NeoForge build is 1.0.0 for 1.21.1.

Key features

  1. Maze structures in eight biomes

Mazes generate in badlands, swamps, the End, midlands, sparse jungles, cherry groves and ice spikes biomes.

  2. Three maze variants per biome

Most biomes receive three maze designs, while the jungle receives a single dedicated maze.

  3. Per-maze loot tables

Each maze carries its own loot table, so the items found in a chest vary with the maze's design.

  4. Structures without jigsaw blocks

Mazes are placed without jigsaw blocks, which keeps their generation separate from jigsaw-based structures.

Questions

Does Lost Mazes need to be installed on a server?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Which loader should be chosen for Lost Mazes?

Lost Mazes has builds for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. The latest Fabric file is for 1.21.8, while the latest Forge file is for 1.20.1 and the latest NeoForge file is for 1.21.1.

Are the maze loot tables configurable?

The author notes describe a separate loot table for each maze, but the Modrinth page does not list configuration options, so the loot can only be assumed to follow those per-maze tables.
