Little Ants

Little Ants puts ant colonies into the Overworld, with several ant varieties that spawn in different biomes and produce different blocks.

What it does

Ant colonies generate under bushes in the Overworld, and each colony is surrounded by ants. Red ants appear in forests, brown ants in taigas, and black ants in savannas and extreme hills. Gold ants are rare among breeding ants, so they take some searching to find.

The mod also exposes an API for adding more ant variants, foods and colonies. The author's GitHub wiki documents the steps for placing new bushes and defining new foods. Ants decide what block they produce, and the source code includes an example recipe that shows how this is set up. Little Ants requires Fabric API and Geckolib, and it runs on Fabric 1.19.2 only. It is released under CC0 1.0 Universal and is open source, with the source code published publicly. The latest file, 1.2.1, was published on 2023-06-13.
