Fponge - The Lava Sponge
by MastroCaleb
Fponge - The Lava Sponge adds two blocks to Fabric for 1.18.2 that let players soak up lava, aimed at players frustrated by lava getting in the way of mining.
What it does
The mod adds a mighty Fponge block, which absorbs lava from the area around it, and a Hot Fponge block that is the lit counterpart. Together they turn lava into a manageable part of mining and building rather than a hazard that ruins a run. The author describes the mod as simple, and it adds only these two blocks. Both sides need the mod, so a server and every player run it, and it is released under CC0 1.0 Universal, which places no license conditions on use. Files exist for 1.18.2 only, with build 2 as the latest, dated 2022-04-25.
Key features
Mighty Fponge block
A sponge block that soaks up lava in the surrounding area, clearing the way while digging.
Hot Fponge block
A second block that works as the lit variant of the sponge, adding a separate placeable option.
Lava removal while mining
Lava nearby can be absorbed so it stops blocking tunnels and ore veins during exploration.
