Lightspeed
by CCr4ft3r
Lightspeed cuts the time Minecraft spends at launch when a heavy Forge modpack is installed, by reducing file system work, parallelizing loading steps and caching computed results.
What it does
The mod targets the slow startup that large modpacks cause. It changes how Minecraft and Forge read, hold and process data during loading, replacing several redundant routines with alternative algorithms. The author reports a launch time reduction of 48% - 62% on the author's own pack of 273 mods, and the title screen shows the current launch time so the difference can be tracked from update to update.
Lightspeed works by reducing file system operations, especially read access, and by caching computed results and data so they are not calculated twice. Parallel processing is used only for steps that suit it, and the author chose efficiency over heavy multithreading so that machines with fewer cores also benefit. Optimizations are added gradually, and any single feature can be turned off in the config file if it conflicts with another mod.
The mod is published for Forge only, across 1.16.5, 1.18.2 and 1.19.2, with 1.19.2-1.1.0 as the latest file. Only the client needs it, so players install it and servers run without it. The code is covered by the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and the project is not open source.
Key features
Fewer file system reads
Lightspeed reduces how often the loader touches the disk, which is the main source of delay when many mods are present.
Cached results
Computed values and loaded data are stored and reused instead of being recalculated on every startup step.
Parallel loading steps
Processes that can run side by side are split across threads, kept to a limited set of cases where it helps.
Improved data structures
Some internal containers used during loading are replaced with structures that handle lookups faster.
Launch time on the title screen
The current launch time is displayed on the title screen, so each update's effect can be compared directly.
Per-feature config switches
Individual optimizations can be disabled in the config file when they clash with a mod that is hard to make compatible.

Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Large modpacks
Players who run modpacks with hundreds of mods and wait many minutes for Minecraft to start.
Older hardware
Players with older computers or laptops, where startup time is longest, since the optimizations avoid depending on a high core count.
Who it’s for: Players who install large Forge modpacks and want shorter launch times. The mod suits single-player and multiplayer clients alike, since it only runs on the client.
