Liberty Voice Mute
by Winteeerrr
Liberty Voice Mute is a Fabric server mod that enforces voice-chat mutes for Simple Voice Chat, and can optionally sync them with LibertyBans through a Velocity bridge.
What it does
Simple Voice Chat, the Fabric voice mod, normally lets every player speak. This mod blocks voice chat on the server itself, so a muted player's voice cannot reach others and the block does not depend on the client. Staff apply and remove mutes with commands, and a duration can be given in several time units, so a mute can be permanent or last a set period.
The mod is server-side only, so players join without installing anything, and only the server needs it alongside Fabric API and Simple Voice Chat. An optional Velocity bridge, a small plugin, syncs mutes with LibertyBans on a proxy network, which lets a punishment issued on one server apply across the network. Without the bridge the mod runs standalone. The code is under a custom license and is not open source. Files are published for 1.21.1 only.
Key features
Server-side voice mutes
Muted players cannot be heard by others, because the block is enforced on the server rather than in the client.
Staff commands
Moderators mute and unmute voice chat with commands, and can target a player by name.
Timed mutes
A mute can carry a duration written in several time units, and it ends automatically when the time runs out.
Action-bar feedback
A muted player who tries to speak sees a message on the action bar, so they know the mute is active.
Expiry notifications
Players are told when a timed mute expires, so they know they can speak again.

How it compares
CMute is a Fabric mod that runs client-side only, is published for 1.21.11 – 26.3 and is not open source, so it does not enforce mutes on a server. SVC-Mute is open source under the MIT License and covers Fabric and NeoForge for 1.18 – 26.2, offering a server-side mute option across those loaders. tkChat is an open source server-side mod under the MIT License for Fabric and Forge, covering 1.20 – 26.3, and handles chat rather than voice.
