Lead Break Indicator

by Corrupt3r

Lead Break Indicator shows a colored status above the hotbar for leashed mobs, so a player can see when a lead is about to break.

FabricClient-side onlyApache License 2.01.21.11 – 26.3

What it does

When a mob is held on a leash, the mod places an indicator above the hotbar that changes color with the state of the lead. Green means the lead is in good condition, yellow warns that it is nearing danger, and red marks a lead that is broken. The indicator covers the case where a player is transporting a mob and the lead reaches its limit while the mob is still out of view.

The mod is built for Fabric and runs on the client alone, so players can install it in single-player worlds or on a multiplayer client without any change on the server. It is released under the Apache License 2.0, and the code is not open source. Builds exist for 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.2 and 26.3, with 1.1.0 for 26.3 as the latest Fabric file, released on 2026-09-28.

The author describes the mod as a small utility for leash transport, and notes that the code was written with AI assistance for naming, block terms and parts of the logic. The author tested the mod before release, and the first version was published on 2026-04-08.

Key features

  1. Hotbar status indicator

A colored indicator sits above the hotbar and shows the state of the leash while a mob is held.

  2. Three status colors

Green, yellow and red mark the lead as sound, in danger or broken, so the player can react before the mob is lost.

  3. Leash reach warning

The indicator shows when the leash reaches its destination limit, including when the mob is no longer visible to the player.

What the author says

In Minecraft, it's annoying when you're transporting a mob with a leash, and you reach your destination, without your mob. So this mod fixes all that. Above your hotbar, there is a new, colorful indicator of the status of your leash. - Green is for "Great" - Yellow is for "In Danger" - Red is for "Broken"
