Lawnage

by Redd56

Lawnage adds grass, mycelium and netherrack-based lawn blocks that turn dirt into a themed ground surface for building and landscaping, on Fabric for 1.16 – 1.18.1.

FabricClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.16 – 1.18.1

What it does

Lawn blocks are made from dirt by combining it with a foliage, grass, flower, leaves or sapling item, so a single dirt block and a small amount of material is enough to start. Regular lawns, mushroom lawns made from one mushroom type or mycelium, and biome-dependent lawns that take their color from the surrounding biome are all included. Players can switch a lawn back to its base block, and saplings can be placed on the lawn surface.

The Nether variants are Crimson and Warped lawns, crafted from their overgrown netherrack counterparts together with a biomass item, eight netherrack around a wart block, or similar combinations. They follow the same switching rules and carry the color of their biome. The mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker.

The mod has files for 1.16, 1.16.1 – 1.16.5, 1.17, 1.17.1, 1.18 and 1.18.1, and it is published for Fabric only. Updates from the 5.0 release add support for reading and supporting other mods, and the most recent build was published on 2022-02-10.

Key features

  1. Crafted lawn blocks

Dirt combined with one grass block, foliage or flower yields a lawn block of the matching type.

  2. Mushroom and mycelium lawns

Lawns can be made from a single mushroom type or mycelium, and mushrooms can be placed on them.

  3. Biome-colored lawns

Biome-dependent lawns take their color from the biome they are placed in.

  4. Nether lawn variants

Crimson and Warped lawns are made from overgrown netherrack with a biomass item or netherrack and a wart block.

  5. Switchable blocks

A lawn can be turned back into its base block, so placed surfaces are not fixed once built.

What the author says

Lawnage is a mod that adds in lawn similar to that of the long abandoned OffLawn! mod Lawn blocks do not turn to dirt when you place blocks on them! You can place saplings on them if ya want even! Regular lawn: To craft use 1 dirt with 1 of any foliage (grass flowers leaves saplings etc)or 1 grass block!
