Kinds NoFireOverlay

by KinditMc

Kinds NoFireOverlay is a Fabric client mod that removes the first-person fire overlay shown while the player is burning.

FabricClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.21.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

When the player catches fire, lava or a flaming enemy, the game covers the screen with a flame texture. Kinds NoFireOverlay removes that overlay so the view stays clear while the player takes damage or moves through burning terrain. The change is limited to the first-person fire image and leaves the burning animation and other effects alone.

It is a lightweight mod aimed at combat, exploration and PvP survival, where the overlay can hide the surroundings and slow reactions. Fabric API is required. The mod runs on the client only, so the server does not need it and players can join without installing anything. Builds cover 1.21.1 – 1.21.11 across 11 release versions, and the latest file is 0.1.0 for 1.21.11, published 2026-02-06. The code is under All rights reserved, so the mod is not open source.

Key features

  1. Overlay removal

The first-person flame texture is no longer drawn while the player is on fire.

  2. Clear view in combat

Enemies, terrain and projectiles stay visible during fights where burning would otherwise cover the screen.

  3. Full visibility while burning

The player can see the area around them during fire damage, lava walks and flaming mob encounters.

  4. Faster reactions

Without the overlay, the player can react to threats while taking fire damage, which matters in PvP survival.
