Display Cases

by efeketket

Display Cases lets players place items inside glass cases in the world, where each stored item shows up visually and can emit a redstone signal when occupied.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.19.4 – 26.3

What it does

Players insert and retrieve items with a simple right-click, so a showcase item can be placed inside a case directly in the world. Each case is an interactive display that changes appearance depending on what is stored, which suits builds that need to show off collected items, trophies or decorative objects.

The datapack keeps the feel of vanilla display cases, adding clear interactions and visual customization without introducing complex mechanics or GUIs. Redstone functionality is included, so an occupied case can signal circuits. Display Cases is a datapack, so it is published for data pack use rather than as a loader mod, and it runs on the server side. It is required on the server and optional for players. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with the latest build for 26.3 and game versions 1.19.4 – 26.3, and the project is open source under the MIT License.

Holding different items while using a case changes its behavior. Empty hand cycles between two display modes, standard item appearance and a clean item display. Holding dye changes the glass color, holding a water bucket resets the glass to its default clear state, and holding another block changes the base plate at the bottom of the case. A silk touch and fortune switch lets players flip between those enchantments on tools with a single right-click.

Key features

  1. Item showcase cases

Cases store showcase items in the world and change appearance to reflect the item placed inside.

  2. Two display modes

Empty-hand right-click cycles between standard item appearance and a clean item display mode.

  3. Glass and base customization

Dye changes the glass color, a water bucket resets it, and another block replaces the base plate.

  4. Redstone output

An occupied display case emits a redstone signal, so it can feed into circuits.
