Iris core sharers compat fix

by MehVahdJukaar

Iris core sharers compat fix is a small experimental Fabric compatibility layer that lets Iris shaderpacks render objects drawn by mods that use custom core shaders.

FabricClient-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 only1.21.1

What it does

Normally, objects rendered by added mods through custom core shaders come out completely black when Iris shaderpacks are active. This layer tries to make Iris handle those custom core shaders so that the affected objects render correctly alongside the shaderpack. The result is described as rough: the internals are not polished, and the output looks less right than ideal, though it works in most cases tested. The mod requires Iris Shaders and is published for Fabric, for 1.21.1 only.

Key features

  1. Custom core shader support

Attempts to make Iris handle custom core shaders that mods add, so their objects are not drawn black.

  2. Shaderpack rendering

Lets objects from added mods render alongside active Iris shaderpacks instead of disappearing.

  3. Experimental fix

Born out of necessity, the layer works in most cases tested, though its internals are not polished.

Questions

Does Iris core sharers compat fix need Iris Shaders?

Yes. Iris Shaders is a required dependency, so it must be installed alongside this mod on Fabric for 1.21.1.

Does the mod have to be installed on the server?

No. Servers do not need it; each player installs it for their own game.

Why do some mod objects appear black with shaderpacks?

Objects drawn by added mods through custom core shaders are normally rendered completely black while Iris shaderpacks are active, which this layer attempts to fix.

What the author says

This is a small and experimental mod that attempts making iris behave and not completely nuke all custom core shaders added by mods. Normally when iris shaderpacks are active, object rendered via custom shaders added by mods will render completely black.
