InvMoveCompats

by PieKing1215

InvMoveCompats lets the InvMove movement-in-inventory mod work with search bars and screens from REI, JEI and EMI, plus the Ponder screen from Create.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.16.5 – 1.21.11

What it does

InvMove keeps the player moving while an inventory or container screen is open. Some screens from other mods are not handled by that system, and others change how movement behaves. InvMoveCompats adds explicit handling for those cases: the search bars of Roughly Enough Items (REI), Just Enough Items (JEI) and EMI, and the Ponder screen added by Create.

Only the client needs this mod, so servers can run without it and players do not need to install it on a server. Mods that are not listed still receive basic handling through the "Unrecognized UI Types" section of the InvMove config. The code is open source, and its source code and issue tracker are public.

Installation needs Cloth Config API and InvMove. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 30 release versions, 1.16.5 – 1.21.11. The latest Fabric and NeoForge files target 1.21.11, the latest Forge file targets 1.20.4, and the latest Quilt file targets 1.20.6. Stopping movement while Ponder is held on an item is available only with a newer release of Create.

Key features

  1. Search bar movement

Keeps movement active while a search bar in REI, JEI or EMI is in use, so item lists can be searched without stopping the character.

  2. Ponder screen handling

Handles the Ponder tutorial screen from Create, with an option to stop movement while Ponder is held on an item.

  3. Unlisted screens

Screens from other mods that are not named in the mod still receive basic handling through the InvMove config section for unrecognized screen types.

Use cases

Searching item lists while moving

A player can type in the REI, JEI or EMI search bar and keep walking without closing the inventory.

Reading Create tutorials

A player can hold Ponder on an item in Create and keep the character moving, if the optional setting is left enabled.

Who it’s for: Players who use InvMove together with REI, JEI, EMI or Create, and who want those screens to keep working with movement enabled. Modpack builders who combine these mods can add it alongside InvMove.

Questions

Does InvMoveCompats need InvMove?

Yes. InvMove and Cloth Config API are both required, and this mod only adds compatibility on top of InvMove.

Does InvMoveCompats have to be installed on the server?

No. The mod is client-side only, so a server runs without it and only the players who want the compatibility install it.

Which loader should be used with InvMoveCompats?

Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, so the copy matching the loader in use should be installed. The Forge and Quilt files are older than the Fabric and NeoForge files.

What the author says

Note that mods not listed below will still have basic compatibility through the "Unrecognized UI Types" config section in the base mod. This mod primarily targets mods that have screens that don't work through that system, or add behaviors that conflict with the base mod.
