Inventory Slots
by BitByLogic
Inventory Slots shows the index of each container slot as a client-side text overlay, which helps when debugging or laying out a UI on Fabric.
What it does
Inventory Slots draws a slot index over each slot in a container screen, so a developer or configurator can match a number to a position without counting. Overlays can be toggled on and off, and an options menu opens from the mod's config screen. The text can be scaled from 0.25x to 2.0x and colored with hex values, with optional shadowing for readability against different UI textures.
Each label can be placed at one of several anchor points, from top-left through center to bottom-right, which gives precise text alignment. Settings are saved between game sessions, and positions can be adjusted while the game is running to see the effect at once. Only the client needs the mod, and it is compatible with servers, so players can join a server that does not run it.
The mod is published for Fabric only, with files for 1.21.4 – 26.2 across nine release versions. The latest file is 2.0.5 for 26.2. It depends on Fabric API and is released under the MIT License, so the code is open source.
