Intense Horror
by Zcoper
Intense Horror adds a timed event called Night Fright, during which horror mobs roam the surface at night, and it is built on Geckolib.
What it does
Most of the mod's mobs spawn only under specific spawning conditions. Some appear only above Y level 60, some only below that height, and most only in the overworld. During the event called Night Fright, horrors come up on the surface, and the moon phase sets how often it starts: the full moon gives a 1% chance, while the other phases give higher chances that climb through the cycle. Night Fright can be turned off with the gamerule allowNightOfFright set to false, and its music with allowNightOfFrightMusic set to false. A Solar Tablet or a Lunatic Altar can also stop it. Setting the gamerule to false does not stop monsters from spawning at night.
The mod requires Geckolib on Forge and runs on the client and server together, so both the server and every player need it. Builds exist for 1.19.2, 1.19.4 and 1.20.1, and the latest Forge file is 1.0 for 1.20.1, published on 2026-06-07. Version 1.19.2 lacks the shield and the newer structure generation and custom villagers that 1.20.1 includes. The mod is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
Key features
Night Fright event
A nightly event during which horror mobs roam the surface, triggered by the current moon phase.
Moon phase chances
Eight moon phases change the chance that Night Fright starts, from 1% at the full moon upward.
Spawning conditions
Most mobs appear only when their height, dimension or time conditions are met, so their spawns stay in set places.
Event controls
Night Fright and its music can be switched off with gamerules, and a Solar Tablet or Lunatic Altar can stop the event.
