Ingstorm
by Athebyne
Ingstorm, a Cursed mod for Fabric and Quilt, applies passive damage to players in certain biomes and near certain blocks, with the amounts set in its configuration.
What it does
Two kinds of hazard are available. Biome damage applies a tick of damage while a player stands in listed biomes, and by default the nether biomes deal 0.05 damage per tick. Block damage applies when a player stays close to listed blocks, and by default the warped roots deal 0.10 damage per tick within 2 blocks of ancient debris. The design is modeled on the passive damage in Metroid Prime 2, and every value can be adjusted.
Configurable safe zones let a player avoid biome damage in a chosen area while still taking block damage within a certain radius of the blocks. The settings can be changed through the mod's configuration, and the course of the damage can also be set with a datapack. MidnightLib is required on every loader to read these options.
Ingstorm runs on the server only, so players join without installing anything. Files are published for Fabric and Quilt, with 1.0.0 for 1.19.2 as the latest build and three game versions covered, 1.19 – 1.19.2. The code is released under CC0 1.0 Universal, and the source code and issue tracker are public.

Use cases
Hazardous dimensions
A server owner can make the nether or a custom biome more dangerous, with a safe zone where players can rest.
Pack tuning
Modpack authors can set the damage rate and the list of hazard blocks to match the difficulty of their pack.
Who it’s for: Server owners and modpack authors who want environmental hazards that players must plan for. Players only need the server to run it.
