Infinity Cave
by Frozytime
Infinity Cave is a world generation mod that lowers the world floor from -64 to -128 and fills the new depth with a single connected cave system.
What it does
Below the bedrock layer the mod generates a very large cave network that links up into one continuous system. It adds five new cave biomes and extends the Deep Dark biome, so six biomes can be explored in total, and each one holds at least one structure. Regular vanilla mobs do not spawn in these caves; a custom spawning system takes their place and is considered difficult, so the mod's own notes recommend a gentler difficulty setting on a first playthrough.
The mod is built for later stages of a world and uses roguelike-style progression. Mobs come in five tiers, from Common up to Legendary, each with randomized stats and a random offhand item. Higher tiers only appear after lower ones are defeated, and progress is tracked as a group, so friends playing together advance together. Legendary mobs carry their own boss bar and a random element. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with builds covering 1.20.1 – 26.2. It is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is open source. Only the server needs it; players may join without installing it.
Key features
Connected cave network
The cave system below the bedrock layer forms one continuous area rather than separate pockets.
Five new cave biomes
Five added cave biomes and new parts of the Deep Dark biome bring the total explorable biomes to six.
Tiered custom mobs
Mobs are grouped into five tiers, and each mob gets randomized stats and a random offhand item.
Custom items and weapons
Custom weapons and armor with special abilities drop from Legendary mobs, and Enchantlets add enchantments not available in vanilla.

Use cases
Late-game exploration
Players who have finished the surface game can descend into the deeper caves for a harder challenge.
Group progression
Friends playing on the same server share progress points and advance through the tiers together.
Who it’s for: Players who want a difficult, roguelike-style cave challenge in a late-game world, and server owners who want custom content below the vanilla world floor.
How it compares
Subsurface is open source under the Apache License 2.0, covers 1.20 – 26.2 on all four loaders, and is needed on the server, with the client optional. Amethyst Caves is not open source, released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial 4.0 license for 1.21.5 only, and is needed on the server, with the client optional. Both add caves, but neither changes the world height or adds a custom mob spawning system.
