Improved Advancements

by Fooze

Improved Advancements reorganizes the advancement screen, sorting its tabs and widening the view so more of the tree fits on one page.

NeoForgeClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1

What it does

Vanilla advancement tabs are placed first, followed by tabs added by other mods in ascending alphabetical order. The advancement screen also expands to fill more of the window, so larger trees need less scrolling. Hovering over an advancement shows a tooltip with the progress of each of its criteria.

Installation needs NeoForge, and the client is the only side that runs it: a server does not need the mod, and players joining a server gain nothing from installing it. Files target 1.21.1 alone, and the code is released under the MIT License, so the project is open source. Each feature can be switched on or off in the config file.

Key features

  1. Vanilla tabs first

Built-in advancement tabs are listed before any tabs contributed by other mods, keeping the familiar layout in front.

  2. Alphabetical modded tabs

Tabs from installed mods are sorted in ascending alphabetical order, so the sequence stays the same from one session to the next.

  3. Larger advancement view

The advancement screen stretches to use more space, which shows more of each tree at once.

  4. Criteria progress tooltips

Hovering an advancement shows how far each of its criteria has progressed.

  5. Configurable features

Each change can be enabled or disabled in the config, so players keep only the parts they want.

Use cases

Browsing large modpacks

Players with many advancement tabs can find the one they need without scrolling through an unsorted list.

Tracking partial progress

The criteria tooltips show which requirements of a long advancement are already complete.

Who it’s for: Players on NeoForge 1.21.1 who use many advancement tabs and want them sorted and displayed in a larger window. Because the mod runs only on the client, it is not needed on dedicated servers.
