Illegal Easy Moh

by Webox

Illegal Easy Moh lets server owners mark items as banned or illegal, so players cannot hold, use or equip them.

ForgeClient and serverMIT License1.18.2 – 1.19.3

What it does

Illegal Easy Moh provides a registry in which items are assigned to illegality categories, either as banned or as illegal. A registered item can be destroyed or thrown to the ground automatically when it sits in a player's inventory, and a banned item is blocked from being equipped or used by hand. Each registered item can carry a custom message that explains to the player why it is restricted, and that message appears in the lower part of the item's tooltip.

The mod suits servers that want to restrict how players interact with particular items, such as items from a balance-sensitive mod. Configuration is handled through JSON files and command line commands, and the interface is available in English and Spanish. A blacklist can cover a single item or an entire namespace, so one entry can restrict every item a given mod adds.

The mod is licensed under the MIT License and is not open source. The server and every player need the mod installed. Forge is the only loader, and Curios API is required as a dependency. Files are published for 1.18.2, 1.19.1, 1.19.2 and 1.19.3, with 1.1.1-1.19.2 as the latest build, dated 2023-06-21.

Key features

  1. Item registry by category

Items are registered and assigned a banned or illegal category, which decides whether they are removed or only prevented from being equipped.

  2. Inventory enforcement

Banned items held in inventory are destroyed or thrown to the ground automatically, according to the server settings.

  3. Custom tooltip messages

Each registered item can display a message in its tooltip that explains why the item is restricted.

  4. Namespace blacklists

A JSON blacklist can target a single item identifier or every item in a namespace, using a path and category per object.

  5. Adjustable polling interval

The client queries the server for registry changes at a set interval, with a default of 1000 ms, a minimum of 100 ms and a maximum of 2000 ms.
