Wye's Hungerless

by Wyelight

Wye's Hungerless removes the hunger mechanic on Forge, so food restores health directly and natural regeneration is switched off.

What it does

Food in the mod provides healing when eaten, and most items also grant potion effects, some of them new. Potion effects are balanced to be less potent than vanilla potions, and most food stacks to 4, with cookies as a listed exception that stacks to 8. Soups and stews are consumed instantly, while other foods keep varied eating speeds. Mob loot tables are rebalanced so that mobs drop less meat.

The Hunger potion effect prevents sprinting rather than disabling sprinting for everyone. Config settings offer a compromise: a speed walking option disables player sprinting and raises base movement speed, and another option gives a boost to base speed that helps slower close-combat enemies keep pace. Sweet berries and glow berries can be planted without first being crafted into seeds, and an instant healing option lets server owners swap the healing method. The mod works in singleplayer and multiplayer, and it runs on client and server. The mod is a Forge package published for 1.19.4 and 1.20.1. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Key features

  1. Unique food effects

Most foods provide potion effects, several of them new, with each food item given a niche role.

  2. Health from food

Eating food restores health directly, and natural health regeneration is removed from the mod's rules.

  3. Adjustable sprinting

A Hunger effect blocks sprinting only while active, and a config option replaces sprinting with a higher base walking speed.

  4. Berry planting fix

Sweet berries and glow berries can be planted straight from the fruit, without crafting seeds first.

Questions

Does Wye's Hungerless need any other mod?

The mod lists no required dependencies in its brief. It is published for Forge only, so a Forge installation is needed.

Does the server need the mod for players to join?

Yes. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod.

Can sprinting be kept while using the mod?

Yes. Sprinting is only blocked by the Hunger effect, and a config setting lets server owners choose a speed walking option instead.
