Horizon Fix

by cintreck

Horizon Fix removes the ringed band that the sun and moon leave across the sky, making the horizon smooth against the terrain.

What it does

The mod targets the sky horizon rendering in Minecraft, so the banded edge that the sun and moon produce is replaced with a smooth transition. Only the overworld sky is changed; other dimensions keep their own custom fog providers untouched. The change is a pure client-side tweak, so a server does not need the jar and players can join without it.

Horizon Fix requires Fabric API and needs no other runtime dependencies beyond it. It is published for Fabric only, across 8 release versions covering 1.21.4 – 1.21.11, with 1.0.2 for 1.21.11 as the latest file. The code is released under CC0 1.0 Universal and is open source, and its source code and issue tracker are public. The mod has been on the catalog since 2025-09-18 and was last updated on 2025-10-07.

Key features

  1. Smooth horizon

The banded ring that appears where the sky meets the terrain is removed, leaving a continuous gradient.

  2. Sun and moon contrast

Without the ring, the sun and moon no longer look sharply contrasted against the terrain edge.

  3. Other dimensions untouched

Fog providers in other dimensions keep their custom behavior, since only the overworld horizon is altered.

  4. Conflict with Smooth Skies

Horizon Fix is known to conflict with Smooth Skies, so the two should not be run together.

How it compares

Full comparison

WynnLODGrabber is a Fabric client-side mod, open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.21.1 – 1.21.11; it does not alter the sky horizon. NG Fog-Remover is server-side only, not open source, and covers 1.18.2 – 1.21.11, so it works on the server rather than in the client sky rendering. Horizon Fix instead stays client-side and limits its change to the overworld sky edge.
